A loot attempt by a gang of unidentified persons was foiled at the house of a former councillor under Muradabad police station area here, police said today.
The incident took place late last night when 12 unidentified men barged into the house of Krushna Bhatnagar and held his grand daughter Harshita and wife Niru on gun-point, they said.
Meanwhile, his son raised an alarm, police said, adding, the accused also fired at the family members but the members snatched the gun from their possession.
The miscreants fled away from the spot without looting any valuables, police said.
According to police, efforts are on to nab the accused.
