Looters lived in jungles: Police

The three accused in the looting of Rs 7.5 crore from a bank, which was to be transported to Bengaluru from here, had spent their lives in the jungles only on bread before they were arrested on May 16, police said today.

Karibasava and gunmen Poovappa and Kariappa were arrested from Somwarpet on May 16 and Rs 6.3 crore of the total sum Rs 7.5 crore looted was recovered fromthem.

Four employees including the three held, had been assigned to transport Rs 7.5 crore from SIS Prosegur-Holdings Agency by a van from Yeyyadi branch of Axis Bank here to its branch in Koramangala in Bengaluru on May 11.
 

However, after loading thevan, they went absconding. The empty van was later traced at Hunsur.

An intense search was on for the absconding fourth accused Bheemaya, police said.
