Lord Saneeswara temple to get new golden car this year

Ahead of Sanipaeyarchi" (transit of Saturn) festival in December this year the famous Lord Saneeswara temple at nearby Tirunallar will get a golden car, Executive Officer of the temple Rajarajan Veerasamy said.

Situated in Karaikal district of Puducherry Union Territory, the temple attracts thousands of pilgrims every day from various parts of the country.

Temple administration had decided to construct a golden car at total cost of Rs 3.64 crore in addition to two wooden cars already present, he said.

A total of 14-kg gold, 25-kg silver, 550-kg copper and 130 cubic feet of teakwood will be used to construct the 14 feet high car, he said, adding that work will be completed by October this year.
