Federation of Karnataka Lorry Owners and Agents Associations President G R Shanmugappa told reporters that transport operators have been forced to take this step to protest against the Government Order in this regard.

As per the order, commercial vehicles cannot run at more than 50 km speed on major district roads, which are 30,000 km in length.

Shamugappa pointed out that installation of speed governors is not mandatory in several states and sought to know how the government would check vehicles from other states without speed governors plying in Karnataka.
