Lorry driver injured in petrol bomb attack

A lorry driver sustained burn injuries today after two unidentified attackers hurled a petrol bomb at him in Mettupalayam here, police said.

Balakrishnan (59) was attacked near the Forest College and Research Institute. He lost control over the lorry and crashed into a pit, they added.

He has been admitted to the Mettupalayam Government Hospital.

The incident happened during a bandh called by the Hindu Munnani protesting its spokesperson, Sasikumar's murder. We are investigating if the incident is linked to the murder, police said.
