: A 60-year-old lorry tanker operator was hacked to death by two men while he was taking bath in a river, to avenge the murder of their uncle 28 years ago, police said.
The duo then surrendered at a police station and reportedly said they had dumped the body in deep waters.
Police said the man was taking bath in the Tamirabharani river at Kongarayakurichi near Sri Vaikuntam when the two persons accosted him and hacked him to death.
The man, who operated a tanker lorry tanker service at Astahampatti in Salem district, had come to his native place to attend a medical camp when he was murdered, police said, adding a search is on to locate his body.
