US Ambassador to India Richard Rahul Verma said here that there was a lot of scope for investment in Uttar Pradesh, as a delegation of opposition parties today met him and discussed various issues, including industrial development in the state.
The delegation comprising Pradip Mathur of Congress, T Ram of BSP, Dalbir Singh of RLD and BJP's Jai Pratap Singh held a meeting with the Ambassador, which lasted for 45 minutes.
"The issue of scope of the US investment in UP and cultural exchanges with the state were some of the issues discussed in the meet," Pradip Mathur told PTI.

"We drew his attention on the longstanding demand of permanent membership to the UN security council to which he assured that he will convey our feelings to President Barack Obama," Mathur said, adding that a need for improving law and order in the state was also discussed.
"We also drew the attention on the continuing support to Pakistan which has been creating troubles in India and Verma said that his country was also concerned over the attitude of Pakistan towards India as far as militancy is concerned as the neighbours need to have cordial relations," he said.
The US ambassador said that he has met Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and found him dynamic and that there was a lot of scope for investment in the state, Mathur added.
