The district administration today launched low-cost sanitary napkins which will be made available to girl students through vending machines installed at various government schools.
Amritsar Deputy Commissioner Ravi Bhagat said this effort is aimed at improving hygiene levels of girl students by providing them low-cost alternative to the extremely expensive and non-biodegradable sanitary pads.
"With this initiative, we wish to bridge the gap between the health options of the rural and urban girls and empower the overall development of women in the district," he said.
