LPG godown staff shot dead

A youth, aged around 25 years, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Mukhiadanga village under M G M Police station here last night, police today said.

The victim, identified as Amit Kumar Mahato, was an employee of a LPG godown. He was dragged out of his house allegedly by the assailants soon after he returned from duty. The assailants then beat him up before opening fire, police said.

The police rushed to the spot and shifted the critically injured Mahato to M G M Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, police sources said.

The assailants have been identified and a hunt is on to apprehend them, sources added saying a First Information Report (FIR) has also been registered in this regard.
 

The sources also said that the exact cause of the killing was yet to be ascertained but the victim had an altercation over supply of gas recently.
