Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan today said LPG penetration in Odisha has touched 58.55 per cent as on May 1, 2018 against 20 per cent in June 2014.
The minister said this while addressing the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan and Pradhan Mantri LPG Panchayat held at Mangalajodi in Khurda district.
Pradhan said the Centre has set a target of providing gas connections to 80 lakh households by the end of December 2018.
As of now, a total of 24.23 lakh connections have been released under the Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojna, and last year, 177 new LPG distributors have been added to the list, leading to around 775 LPG distributors as on May 1, 2018.
He said an additional 225 new LPG distributors are being planned to take it to a total of 1,000 in the state.
