Congress Lok Sabha MP from Rohtak Deepender Singh Hooda has moved a notice against the Haryana government for breach of privilege after the state cancelled an invitation the Centre had extended to him for an event.

"Your notice of privilege is under my consideration," Speaker Sumitra Mahajan told Hooda in Lok Sabha today.

Hooda moved the motion after the Haryana government at the last minute cancelled his invitation to the 'bhoomi pujan' of National Cancer Institute in Jhajjar, which being funded by the Union Health Ministry.

Hooda said that though the Health Ministry had sent him the invite to attend the function on December 12, as he is the local MP, the BJP-led state government withdrew the same at the last minute.

Hooda in his notice sought action against the state leadership and not the bureaucracy, saying, "bureaucrats only did what they political leaders asked them to." Hooda claimed that this is the first time ever that such a thing has happened.
