Terming Lok Sabha elections a "direct contest between secular and communal ideologies", senior Congress leader and state minister Gulam Ahmed Mir today urged people to vote in favor of the NC-Congress candidates for their better future.

"The present election is a direct contest between secular and communal ideology and people have to decide which future they want to choose for themselves and for their next generations," the Minister for Tourism said while addressing huge public gatherings at Pulwama district today.

"Congress played a role in the development and prosperity of entire country in general and Jammu and Kashmir in particular," he said.

"Today, people should come out and strengthen the roots of democracy in Jammu and Kashmir by participating in the Lok Sabha poll and voting for the National Conference-Congress candidates fielded in the six constituencies in the state," he said.

Mir said creation of new administrative units, hospitals, medical colleges and anti-graft laws were some of the landmark achievements of the coalition government in the state.
