LS Polls: Luck favours only two sitting MLAs in Jharkhand

Out of 11 candidates who had won the 2009 Assembly elections in Jharkhand only two emerged as victor in the 16th Lok Sabha elections.

BJP's Bidyut Baran Mahto (has since resigned from the membership of Jharkhand Assembly after joining BJP) and Laxman Gilua won from Jamshedpur and Singhbhum (ST) constituencies respectively.

Gita Koda of the Jai Bharat Samanta Party (Singhbhum), Bandhu Tirkey (Ranchi) and Chamra Linda (Lohardaga)-- both of the Trinamool Congress, AJSU party president Sudesh Mahto (Ranchi), Anosh Ekka (Khunti), Samresh Singh (Dhanbad) and Pradip Yadav (Godda) bit the dust under the impact of the Narendra Modi wave.

Chandra Sekhar Dubey, who also resigned from the Congress and House membership just before the Lok Sabha elections, lost the polls in Dhanbad on a Trinamool Congress ticket.
 

Hemlal Murmu, who is facing defeat in Raj Mahal where JMM candidate Vijay Kumar Hansdak is leading, had also announced resignation from Jharkhand Assembly after joining the BJP.
