The Mumbai Congress has launched a public outreach programme to raise funds for the party ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The campaign named 'Jan Sampark Abhiyaan' was launched on Monday under the leadership of city Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam, a party statement said.
Nirupam visited households and shops in Andheri west while kick-starting the programme as worked out by the All India Congress Committee, it added.
"Every booth across the city has been given 22,000 coupons of Rs 100, Rs 500 and Rs 1000. Congress workers will visit every division and go door-to-door to raise funds for the party," the statement quoted Nirupam as saying.
"We request Mumbaikars to help the party raise maximum funds, which will be in turn used for the people of the city in the longer run," he urged.
There are six Parliamentary seats in Mumbai. The Congress had drawn blank in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
