Lt Gen Dalbir Singh bids farewell to Eastern Command

Ahead of assuming charge as the Vice Chief of Army Staff at the Army Headquarters in Delhi tomorrow, Lt Gen Dalbir Singh today bade farewell to the Eastern Command here.

In his farewell message to all ranks, Singh, who was General Officer Commanding of the Eastern Command since June 16, 2012, emphasised on the need for maintaining operational readiness and efficient logistics, upholding of values and traditions of the Indian Army and creating an atmosphere of mutual trust and confidence.

Singh's elevation to the post of Vice-Chief of Army Staff was being seen as a precursor to his elevation as the next Army chief when incumbent General Bikram Singh retires in August.
 

Lt Gen M M S Rai, at present Chief of Staff of South Western Command, will take over as the next chief of Eastern Command here tomorrow.
