The opposition AIADMK today said it is concerned over "lack of initiative" on the part of Lt Governor, Lt General (rtd) A K Singh, in ensuring developmental activities and implementation of the Right to Education (RTE) Act in the Union Territory.

Addressing reporters, the Deputy leader of the AIADMK's legislature wing A Anbalagan contended that though Singh had been visiting Puducherry every fortnight and holding meeting with officials, he was not ascertaining whether the decisions taken at the previous meetings were being implemented.

Singh is holding additional charge of office of Lt Governor here,

Seeking to list the various areas where the "Rangasamy led AINRC government has failed", Anbalagan said unnecessary and unproductive expenditure had been incurred by the government.

"Several public sector undertakings have non officials as chairmen and expenditure incurred for the facilities for them was too huge to be justified", he said.
