Lt Governor reviews law and order situation

: Lt Governor of Puducherry Lt General (retired) A K Singh held discussions with Chief Secretary Manoj Parida and IG of Police Praveer Ranjan on law and order situation and other important issues at a meeting in the Rajnivas here today.

Singh, who is Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and holds the gubernatorial post here under additional charge, was briefed on the latest developments post the visit of the two member Fact Finding committee deputed by the HRD Ministry to Pondicherry University.

The Lt Governor also held a meeting with PWD officials on improvement of roads and drainages in the Union Territory.
 

A release from office of Lt Governor said he directed the PWD Secretary to ensure that works relating to roads and drainage facilities were completed expeditiously before the onset of North East Monsoon.

He also directed the Secretary to Electricity to come out with a detailed plan to address frequent power cuts here.

Singh has been holding under additional charge the post of Lt Governor since July 17 last year after replacing the then incumbent Virendra Kataria.
