Press Trust of India Puducherry
: The opposition Congress has dubbed the address of Lt Governor Lt General (retired) A K Singh to the Assembly on the opening day of the current budget session yesterday as 'a betrayal of the lack of any action plan or orientation' on the part of the AINRC government.

President of Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee A V Subramanian in a release here today said the government had not spent a big chunk of Rs 2000 crore earmarked by Planning Commission for fiscal 2013-2014. The increase in plan outlay to Rs 2400 crore for this fiscal had been due to the sanction of funds for the coastal disaster and reduction projects.

"The government has not mobilised any revenue to give a push in its sources of income", Subramanian said.

He alleged that the free rice scheme, envisaging supply of single boiled rice through ration shops at 10 kg a month was available only for some eight months in fits and starts since the present government came to power in 2011 and was of poor quality.
