Lt Governor urges PM for Income Tax holiday for new& non

: Lt Governor of Puducherry Lt General (retired) A K Singh today requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring in special incentives for new and non polluting industries that entrepreneurs would set up here.

A release from Rajnivas said Singh specifically requested Modi during his meeting with him in Delhi to introduce a moratorium on income tax payment for entrepreneurs setting up units without causing environmental pollution.

He also sought a rise in exemption limit in Excise duty for industries.These packages would attract more investors and contribute to speedy growth of Puducherry, he told the PM.

Singh also wanted laying of a double track railway line linking Puducherry with Cuddalore for fast improvement in connectivity between Puducherry and Chennai and Villupuram. He also made out a case for expanding the runway at Puducherry airport.
 

Singh 'persuaded' the PM to waive loans that had been provided due from Puducherry to the Centre. He apprised him of the progress in implementing 'Swacch Bharat bhiyan' by the government and also in three mega social security insurance schemes.

He informed the Prime Minister of government's decision to pay the premium amount of Rs 12 per annum to those coming under the Pradhan Mantri Bima Suraksha yojana (accident related insurance scheme).

The release said the Prime Minister had assured the Lt Governor that all his representations would be looked into.

He also met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh yesterday and apprised him of various developmental projects in Puducherry, the release said.
