Puducherry Lt Governor Lt General (retired) A K Singh today listened to the woes of farmers affected by the incessant rains and also the damages caused to the crops.
The Lt Governor visited the rain ravaged villages of Karikalambakkam, Korkadu and Sendhanatham. He also visited the Oussudu and saw for himself the extent of havoc the rains caused in the Union Territory, a release said.
He assured the vilalgers that the government would provide compensation for the loss of crops after the assessment of the damages now in progress was completed.
The Lt Governor also directed the officers to complete the assessment expeditiously. He also held discussions with the Chief Minister on the situation arising out of the squally weather in Puducherry.
