The dates have been preponed by a day to June 23 as the district administration has requested the Commission for it in view of Railway group B examinations in which 55000 aspirants are to take the test in 55 centres on June 24, the sources said.
Also, on June 24 the UGC NET examinations are also scheduled with 19450 candidates likely to write the test, the government has told the Commission in its letter.
Keeping in view these exams, the government had suggested June 23 and Jun 25 as the new dates for the local body polls here.
"As a huge rush is expected on June 25 as the aspirants would be leaving the city after their exam, it was appropriate to hold the polls on June 23", the Commission said while fixing the new date.
