Vigilance Bureau sleuths today nabbed Assistant Commissioner Police when he was allegedly accepting Rs 25,000 as bribe from an iron scrap dealer in his office here.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana (South), Baldev Singh Chauhan had threatened Rakesh Kumar that he would be implicated in false cases and put behind bars if he did not pay him a sum of Rs 25,000 per month, SSP, Vigilance Bureau, Satinder Singh, told reporters.
According to the SSP, this was the first instalment of the 'deal'.

The scrap dealer had approached the Vigilance Bureau against the ACP after which a trap was laid and Chauhan was arrested, Singh said.
A case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against him, he said.
