Ludhiana gas cylinder blast: Death toll climbs to 14

With the death of a teenage boy, the death toll in last month's gas cylinder blast in the Giaspur locality here rose to 14, police said today.

14-year-old Shivam succumbed to the burn injuries in the local CMC hospital here late last night, they said.

Shivam's father Amarnath, a labourer, who was also severely burnt in the cylinder blast incident on April 26, had breathed his last in the hospital on May 1.

The cooking gas cylinder had exploded at the residence of Ashok Kumar Yadav (58) in Samrat Colony of Giaspura, injuring 35 people.

Yadav, his wife Sunita (40) and son Raj (13) succumbed to injuries at the CMC hospital later. Residents of houses neighbouring Yadav's were among the dead.
