The husband of Monika Ghumber, candidate of Shiv Sena (Hindustan) from Ward no 31 in the upcoming Ludhiana Municipal Corporation elections, was allegedly attacked by two unidentified motorcycle-borne youths near Jain colony here, the police said today.
The incident took place yesterday evening when Virinder Ghumber, along with some other supporters of her wife's party, were coming back from the poll campaign, said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Surinder Lamba said while quoting the statement given by the victim.
Virinder told the police that he mistook the two youths as Shiv Sena (H) supporters.

"When Virender's supporters came out of the car, the accused fled the scene," Lamba said.
The victim was rushed to the civil hospital where his condition was stated to be stable.
Ludhiana MC polls candidate Monika Ghumber was not in the car when the incident took place, police confirmed.
A case has been registered against the two unidentified youths, and hunt is on to nab the culprits, police said.
