Lukup Media today announced the launch of its television-on-demand service powered by a connected device called the the Lukup Player which delivers a large number of television channels in addition to those available on cable and direct-to-home platforms.

These additional television channels would have content of multiple genres including movies, shows, lifestyle and sports, Lukup Media said in a release.

Lukup Player would enable its users to stream content on more than one screen or device namely television screens, tablets, mobile phones or wireless speakers at any one time.

The service includes unlimited recording capacity starting from 500 GB, which could be upgraded without limit.

Users would also be able to download content on their mobile devices, which they could access offline.

With no minimum monthly subscription charges, users would be able to pay-per-view.

"Our TV service is designed to meet requirements of changing lifestyles and consumer behaviour where more people want their entertainment when they have time, on a device of their choice, even when they are travelling or away from home. We also want to bring content and channels not available to viewers in India and broaden their choice of content substantially," Lukup Media Chief Executive Officer Kallol Borah said.

The service currently available in Bangalore, would be available across India in phases.

The Lukup Player would be available online and in retail stores from this month, the release said.
