A committee of the organisers of 3rd Lusofonia Games, to be held in Goa in November, reviewed preparations for the event and expressed hope that things would be ready well in time under the new government.

The ten-member committee of Association of the Portuguese Speaking Olympic Committees (ACOLOP), which organises the international sporting event, also known as Portuguese Commonwealth Games, is here since April 20.

The delegation is led by Bernard Rajzman, Vice- President of ACLOP who is Brazil's Olympic volleyball hero.

Addressing a press conference here today, Rajzman said "I believe in the people who are going to conduct the event. I understand the problem in the political level by the earlier Government which led to a slow start.

"Now that with the new Government is at the helm, thing are going in the right direction and I believe in their words that has been given and hope things will be ready before schedule," stated Rajzman.

Keshav Chandra, Chief Officer of Organising Committee of the Games, said the ACOLOP panel members, who visited all the six venues, are happy with preparations and facilities which are being put in place for the participants.

"We had to start work at three venues afresh and I was a little apprehensive. But now that work is going on with breakneck speed, I am confident it will be completed before time and the Games will be held in all its glory," stated Chandra.

The Games, wherein the Portuguese-speaking nations participate, will be held in nine disciplines. A dozen countries will take part in the international event.
