To counter the growing threat of counterfeit spare-parts, auto major Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has conducted preventive raids on six manufacturers and sales outlets across the Northern markets.
The raids were conducted at shops, traders, packing and manufacturing units. The company has conducted 14 successful raids across the country over the past three months, the auto firm said in a statement here today.
These operations were carried out jointly with the local police and specialist agencies.

The parts which are most commonly duplicated are air filters, oil filters, fly-wheels, pressure plates, steering cone and clutch plates.
Mahindra has warehouses in Pune for auto spares and Bhiwandi near Mumbai for tractors.
As many as 260 spurious parts were seized in raids at two shops in Kashmere Gate of New Delhi. Search at another shop in the same area yielded 643 duplicate parts. In Jalandhar, 146 spurious spare-parts were recovered from three shops, the company said.
The company did not give notional value of these parts nor the loss thereof from such sales.
