M Tech, B Tech, post graduates among police constables

Candidates who have done M Tech, B Tech and post graduation were among more than 7,000 successful candidates who have been selected as police constables in Punjab.

Police said 7,173 candidates have been selected as constables in the Recruitment of Constables- 2016, the results of which were declared today.

The successful candidates include 162 post graduates, six M Tech, 153 B Tech, 1,181 graduates and 261 diploma holders, an official spokesman said.

He said about 85 per cent of the candidates selected are in the age group of 19-26 years. This percentage in Armed Police Cadre (male) is 80 per cent, District Police Cadre (male) is 83 per cent and in District Police Cadre (female) is 97 per cent.
 

The addition of 7,173 constables to the State Police Force would give a fillip to the resolve of the Punjab Police to conduct the 2017 Assembly elections in a free, fair and transparent manner, the spokesman said.

"Their training course is expected to begin from 15th November onwards," he added.
