:A large number of devotees offered worship at the coastal village of Vaithikuupam to processional deities of various shrines from here and neighbouring Tamil Nadu.

Deities of a number of temples were installed on the sea shore for 'theerthavaari' (dip in Bay of Bengal) and special poojas were performed on the occassion.

People had a dip in the sea and performed poojas to the deities.

The festival is an important event every year, synchronising with occurrence of Full Moon in the Tamil month of Maasi (February-March).

The deities of Subramania Swamy temple in Mailam (Villupuram District), Poyyamozhi Vinayakar from Dheevanur and of Aranganathaswamy temples in Tamil Nadu were among the important processional deities at the village. Managements of these temples bring the deities every year for the festival.
