Mad Men, American Horror Story dominate Emmy nominations

"Downton Abbey" and "Hatfields & McCoys" picked up 16 nominations each for the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards, to be aired on September 23, reported Us magazine.

In the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, the nominees are: Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Larry David (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men), Louis CK (Louie), Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) and Don Cheadle (House of Lies).

Tina Fey (30 Rock), Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep), Zooey Deschanel (New Girl), Melissa McCarthy (Mike & Molly), Lena Dunham (Girls) are nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category.

 

Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey), Elisabeth Moss (Madmen), Kathy Bates (Harry's Law), Claire Danes (Homeland) and Glenn Close (Damages) are the nominees in Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Bates also received a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress for her turn as the ghost of Charlie Sheen's character on an episode of "Two and a Half Men."

Battling it out for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series are Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire), Michael C Hall (Dexter), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey), Jon Hamm (Mad Men) and Damian Lewis (Homeland).

For Supporting Actress in a Drama, Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife), Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad), Maggie Smith (Downton Abbey), Joanne Froggart (Downton Abbey), Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) and Christine Baranski (The Good Wife) notched nominations.

Brendan Coyle and Jim Carter of "Downton Abbey" are vying for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series. Joining them are Aaron Paul and Giancarlo Esposito of "Breaking Bad", Jared Harris for "Mad Men" and Peter Dinklage (Game Of Thrones).

The Mini-Series or Movie category included "Game Change", "Hatfields & McCoys", "American Horror Story", "Hemingway & Gelhorn", "Sherlock: A Scandal in Belgravia" and "Luther" as nominations.
