Viraj is currently third on the Order of Merit in the category A-B, the top two, Aman Raj and Manu Gandas are away playing in Korea this week. Also away is Shubhankar Sharma.
Madappa plays at the Tollygunge Club in Kolkata and start as one of the favourites in the event.
In category B, Piyush Sangwan, who plays at the DLF Golf and Country Club, will have a chance to catch up Prakhar Asawa.
Asawa is also in Korea.
A total of 72 players are competing in the tournament that is being held at the Shivalik Golf Course, Chandi Mandir.
