Madhavan, who has been a longtime PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) supporter, took to Twitter to share the news.
"He has a cheque for PETA... Refused birthdays presents and insisted all his friends make donations to PETA," Madhavan posted.
PETA later sent Vedant vegan goodies and a personalized note from PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk along with a book "50 Easy Ways Kids Can Help Animals."
Madhavan first appeared in a print ad promoting vegetarian eating and then sent a letter to food chain KFC asking them to improve their animal welfare standards.
