A 45-year-old 'chat' shop owner, who is an ardent followers of actor Madhuri Dixit, celebrated her 48th birthday here today by spreading the message: "Save the girl child".
Pappu Sardar cut a cake in front of his family members and others before releasing a calendar carrying photographs of Madhuri and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 'Beti bachao beti padhao' campaign.
Sardar had another cake with "Save the girl child" written on it but did not cut it.
"It has not been cut to spread the message that a girl child should be nurtured and groomed in a proper manner," said the man who has been celebrating Dixit's birthday in a grand manner for the last two decades.
"Why do people hate girl child?" he asked and urged people to save and respect them.
As per the calendar released on the occasion, the new year of the Madhuri fan begins from today.
