Madhya Pradesh BJP leader killed in road mishap

Former BJP MLA Lallu Singh was killed and two others injured in a road accident here, police said today.

The mishap took place yesterday on National Highway 78 near the Birsinghpur Pali area in the district when the car Singh was travelling in crashed into a stationary truck.

Singh, the Madhya Pradesh BJP Disciplinary Committee President, and two other occupants of the car -- Narendra, nephew of former minister Jai Singh Maravi, and party leader Martand Singh sustained serious injuries in the accident.

The trio was taken to a district hospital where Singh, who had suffered injures to his head, succumbed during treatment, police said.
 

The three were returning to Shahdol after attending a private function in Semradi village.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, and BJP Vice-President Prabhat Jha have expressed grief over Singh's demise.
