Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan charged the UPA government today of "politicising" a natural calamity.

"Only a pathetic UPA government can politicise a natural calamity," the Chief Minister said in a tweet.

Chouhan also said that Congress-ruled Maharashtra received Rs 1,200 crore, but Madhya Pradesh received only Rs 400 crore for hailstorm-affected farmers.

Incidentally, the MP CM and his cabinet colleagues had staged a sit-in protest here on March 6 and the BJP had given a statewide shut down call to protest against the Centre's "apathy" towards MP's farmers affected by natural calamities.

The BJP had also demanded declaration of extensive damage to crops by rain and hailstorm as a "national calamity" and asked for a package of Rs 5,000 crore from the Centre.
