Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav's wife Shanti Devi today passed away after a prolonged illness at a private hospital in Haryana's Gurgaon city, Raj Bhawan officials said.
She was 81.
The mortal remains of Shanti Devi will be brought here tomorrow and later taken to Lucknow, where her last rites will be performed on August 24, they said.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Culture and Public Relations Minister Laxmikant Sharma, Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh, Leader of Opposition in Assembly Ajay Singh and State Congress President Kantilal Bhuria were among others who condoled the death of Shanti Devi.
