Madras High Court today referred a petition seeking an SIT investigation into the February 19, 2009 clashes between police and advocates in its premises to the acting Chief Justice to form a three-member full bench to hear the case.
A division bench comprising Justices V Dhanapalan and C T Selvam requested acting Chief Justice Rajesh Kumar Agrawal to pass appropriate orders.
Advocate K Muthuramalingam had in February this year moved Madras High Court with a plea, seeking constitution of a SIT to probe the violence involving police personnel and lawyers in the court premises on February 19, 2009.
Seeking to implead himself as party in an earlier petition filed in 2010 and which is yet to come up for hearing, the petition alleged that CBI had filed a biased report, intending to protect senior police officials.
