Madras HC gets one more judge

The Centre has transferred Justice Satrughana Pujahari of the Orissa High Court to the Madras High Court.

Justice Pujahari is likely to assume charge onNovember 28, increasing the number of judges in the Madras High Court to 54. The court has a total sanctioned strength of 75.

The Central governmenton Tuesdayissued a notification transferring Justice Pujahari to the Madras High Court.

Justice Ved Prakash Vaish of the Meghalaya High Court has been transferred to the Allahabad High Court. Justice Pujahari enrolled as an advocate with the Odisha Bar in 1987.

In 2003, he was appointed as Additional District and Sessions Judge, Berhampur.
 

After being made a district judge, he occupied various other posts including those of the chairman of the Odisha Sales Tax Tribunal, member secretary of the Cuttack Legal Services Authority and Principal Secretary to the law department.

On November 29, 2013, he was elevated as an additional judge of the Orissa High Court.
