The 146 member-strong Contingent of Madras Regiment, which won the Best Contingent award at Army Day and finished Runners up in the Republic Day parade, was accorded a rousing reception at Garrison in nearby Wellington today.
Lt.Tanmoy Sanger, who led the contingent, was declared the Best Contingent Commander out of the 14 army contingent and honoured on the spot with the Chief of Army Commanding Card at the occasion, a regiment release said here.
The colourful Miliitary Band of the Regiment which was awarded runners up during Repubic Day as well as Army day was applauded by the entire Nation, it said.

As a mark of appreciation for the contigent and to boost their morale, a feast and fire crackers show were organised.
S. Sureshkumar, Commandant, Madras Regiment Centre, gave away mementoes to the contingent members, the release said.
