An anonymous phone call threatening that a bomb had been planted in the District Court complex turned out to be a hoax after police scanned the entire area with sniffer dogs and metal detectors.

The call was received by the Police Control Room this morning and immediately a bomb squad was pressed into service to search the complex. The entire area were searched by the squad members but nothing could not be traced, police said.

The work in the court was affected some time due to the search operation.

The anonymous call was received at a time when contempt of court proceedings were pending against some lawyers for their unruly behaviour including taking out rallies and obstructing court work during their anti-helmet rally.

Some of the advocates had been suspended by the Bar Council of India for their unruly behaviour.
