A woman judicial magistrate has died after giving birth to a child allegedly due to negligence at a private nursing home in Sambalpur of Odisha, police said today.

Champabati Hati, the Judicial Magistrate First Class of Sambalpur, died at the nursing home at Budharaja area in Sambalpur town yesterday.

"My wife died due to negligence at the nursing home," her husband Amulya Hati alleged while talking to reporters, after making a formal complaint at the Ainthapalli police station.

"She underwent a caesarean section and gave birth to our child. The doctors informed us that both the mother and baby were doing well. But, an hour later they asked to me arrange for blood. After some time they pressed me to get another unit of blood immediately. Later, the nursing home officials told me that my wife was dead," Amulya said.

Authorities of the private nursing home were not available for comments.

The District Lawyers' Association has demanded for the cancellation of the registration of the nursing home.
