A metropolitan magistrate's court today said it will hold an inquiry into the death of Sandeep Gadoli, who was allegedly killed in a fake encounter by the Haryana Police earlier this year.

"The court has passed an order under section 176 of Criminal Procedure Code (inquiry by magistrate into cause of death)," said advocate Tanveer Nizam, who appeared for Gadoli's sister, Sudesh Gadoli.

Sudesh had moved the court seeking an inquiry while expressing dissatisfaction over the investigation by the Mumbai Police's special investigation team (SIT).

Nizam said with this inquiry, loopholes in the SIT probe will be "exposed" and the "criminal conspiracy" behind Gadoli's death will be investigated.

"The magistrate's inquiry will expose the shoddy investigation by SIT," Nizam said.

Gadoli, a gangster from Haryana, was shot dead by Gurgaon Police in an alleged encounter at a hotel here in February this year.

His family alleged that it was a fake encounter.

The SIT has, till now, arrested sub-inspector Pradhuman Yadav who led the Gurgaon Police team, constables Vikram Singh and Jitender, Gadoli's former girlfriend Divya Pahuja and her mother.
