Maha: 244 couples tie-knot at mass-wedding ceremony by Sena

As many as 244 couples of different castes today tied the knot at a mass-wedding ceremony organised by the Shiv Sena here.

The ceremony conducted as part of the 'Balasaheb Thackeray Kanyadaan Yojna' was attended by Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, Sena President Uddhav Thackeray, his son and 'Yuva Sena' chief Aditya Thackeray and several state Ministers.

The couples were given gifts and a mass lunch was organised.

Tomorrow, BJP and the 'Shivaji Maharaj Smarak Samiti' will organise a mass-wedding ceremony in neighbouring Jalna district where around 530 couple will tie the knot.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Ministers Sudhir Mungantiwar and Vinod Tawade would grace the occasion.
 

Maharashtra BJP chief Raosaheb Danve had said a procession of all the to-be-wed couples would be taken out in auto-rickshaws and over one lakh people would attend the ceremony.
