Assembly Speaker Dilip Walse Patil said since the official notification from the Centre on Munde's demise was not received, Assembly proceedings started at 11 AM.
"There were diverse views on whether the condolence motion could be taken up before the cremation. This is a tricky situation. We all have to go for the funeral tomorrow and there is budget on June 5," he said.
There were some differences among legislators over where the condolence meeting should be held.
The Chief Minister was of the opinion that a proper condolence meeting be held at the central hall but Industries Minister Narayan Rane differed saying since the motion has been tabled, it is proper to have members air their sentiments so that they are recorded.
Independent legislators Anil Gote and Sitaram Ghandat said the motion should not be taken up in the absence of BJP members in the House.
The motion was adopted without any discussion.
