Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Haribhau Bagde today called on Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao at Raj Bhavan here.

"This was a courtesy call," a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said, adding that the meeting lasted for 15 minutes.

Principal Secretary, Maharashtra State Legislature Anant Kalse, was also present.

The meeting happened against the backdrop of the flak Bagde had been facing from opposition parties over the conduct of trust vote sought by Devendra Fadnavis government on floor of House on November 12.

The BJP government won the confidence vote after Bagde called for a voice vote and declared the motion passed even as opposition Shiv Sena and Congress alleged that the Speaker denied their demand for division of votes and "rushed through" the trust vote.

Sena and Congress, who have alleged "foul play" in the conduct of the procedure, had separately requested the Governor to order fresh trust vote.
