The BJP government in Maharashtra has decided to support the Coastal Road project, a pet scheme of former Chief Minister Prithvraj Chavan.

At a review of the state's pending infrastructure projects, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the Coastal Road project for Mumbai from Nariman Point to Malad-Kandivali on the western sea front was cost-effective and would also help to boost the security on the sea front.

Presentations of the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) and the Navi Mumbai International Airport were also made to the Chief Minister.

Officials said despite getting all clearances, the MTHL and Navi Mumbai airport projects were delayed as there were no good bidders due to economic slowdown.

Fadnavis asked the authorities to ensure that there were no delays in implementation of the projects.

The Chief Minister was told that 75 per cent of the land accquisition for the Navi Mumbai airport has been completed.
