"Tatkare has registered as many as one hundred companies in name of 10 persons, including a gardener, a clerk to name a few, working under him," BJP Secretary Kirit Somaiya told reporters.

Somiaya claimed that he was in possession of the documents showing Tatkare's association with at least ten prominent businessmen, including developers, builders and hoteliers, in connection with a project at Cumballa Hill in South Mumbai, and have handed them over to Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.

"Tatkare's Next Technologies sold 1,90,575 shares at Rs 400 each to dummy shareholders and immediately bought them back at Rs 10 each. He (Tatkare) earned Rs 8.50 crore through this transaction," Somaiya alleged.

As per the documents secured from various departments, Tatkare's friends and family control as many as 100 companies, besides owning over 1000 acres of agriculture land in Ambivali, Dhagadwadi, Kihim, Shekhadi villages, and at other places including Mumbai and Goa, he said.

Alleging that the scam is "bigger" than the one perpetrated by Congress MLA Kripashankar Singh, Somaiya said he would lodge a formal complaint with Central Board of Direct Taxes, the Finance Ministry and other related agencies.

Meanwhile, Tatkare refused to comment on the allegations, saying the matter is "sub judice". (More)
