Maha: Central Bank of India official caught taking bribe

A branch manager with Central Bank of India was arrested by the CBI officials fro allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 in lieu of sanctioning of a loan in the neighbouring Buldhana district, official sources said today.

Gulab Narnavre, the branch manager at Chikhli town, was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 10,000 bribe by a team of CBI from Nagpur yesterday, they said.

He had demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 for sanctioning loan of Rs 83,000 to a resident of Chandhai in Chikhli tehsil for buying milch animals, the sources said.

Earlier, Rs 20,000 had been paid to the accused.
 

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against Narnavre, they added.
