Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today directed concerned authorities to prepare a comprehensive water plan for Godavari basin.

He chaired the second meeting of State Water Council at the state secretariat here.

Fadnavis directed the officers to prepare a comprehensive water plan for Godavari basin which needs to be submitted to him for approval in 3 months, an official in Chief Minister's Office said.

He also asked officials to frame a methodology for preparing future water plans for other basins for integration.

The Chief Minister stressed that Integrated State water plan should not be only compilation but should be integration too in true sense, the official said.

State Ministers Pankaja Munde, Girish Mahajan, Diwakar Raote, Babanrao Lonikar and senior officials were present for the meeting.

Maharashtra government demanded an exemption of two years from NEET entrance test, saying students would not be able to prepare in a short span of time.

In a meeting with Prime Minister, Chief Minister Fadnavis said 80 per cent syllabus of the NEET was different from Maharashtra's Common entrance Test held for seeking admission in medical courses in the state.

Fadnavis also said that the NEET syllabus pattern was based on CBSE curriculum which was proving to be a hindrance to the state's students, especially from rural areas.

He also told the Prime Minister that two-months time would be inadequate for the students to prepare for the exam.

Fadnavis stressed that the state conducts CET for both the private as well as government medical colleges, which itself removes the anomalies.

Last week, state education minister Vinod Tawde had also made a strong pitch for giving exemption to Maharashtra from NEET test, at least for a year.
