Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today presented a cheque of Rs 1 crore to shooter Rahi Sarnobat who won a gold medal in the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup recently.
The government had announced the cash award after Rahi became the first pistol shooter from India to win a gold medal in the ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation) World Cup held in South Korea two months ago.
Chavan had also announced in the Legislative Council that there was a proposal to give her a Grade-I job in the state government.
Sarnobat, a 22-year-old from Kolhapur, pipped Korean Kyeongae Kim 8-6 in the final of the 25m sports pistol event at Changwon.
